Technical Details & Info
– Please send your project with the same quality as the original recording. For example, if your session was in 24-bit/48 kHz, export your project at the same quality (24-bit/48 kHz). If necessary, we will make the required quality adjustments.
– The service includes delivery of the following files:
• WAV 16-bit/44.1 kHz – for digital distribution (Distribution Amplitude, CD Baby, DistroKid, TuneCore, etc).
• WAV 24-bit and original sample rate (e.g., 48 kHz) – for Hi-Res/Lossless Audio distribution.
• WAV 24-bit and original sample rate (e.g., 48 kHz) – for Apple Digital Master distribution.
• MP3 – for personal use or independent distribution.
– Digital distribution, streaming platforms, and online sales (DSP).
Digital Service Providers (DSPs) such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, etc., are streaming platforms or digital stores that distribute audio content to consumers. However, you must go through an aggregator, such as Distribution Amplitude, if you want your music to be available on these DSPs.
– The client is responsible for submitting tracks or albums to online distribution services.
You must create an account with a service such as Amplitude Distribution, CD Baby, DistroKid, etc., which will, in most cases, provide you with an ISRC code for each track and a UPC code for each album or single. You can also choose to handle the process yourself and obtain your own ISRC codes (which is preferable – see below).
Prepare an Excel document containing all the required information: album title, track titles, durations, artist(s), credits, ISRC/UPC codes if available, etc. Don’t forget to include the cover artwork in a standard accepted format: 3000 x 3000 pixels, 300 DPI, PNG or JPG (RGB mode).
– ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) and UPC Codes.
What is an ISRC code?
The ISRC is a unique and mandatory identifier for each sound recording or music video. It allows for tracking of distribution and ensures proper attribution of royalties and copyright. This code is required by all digital distribution platforms.
What is a UPC code?
The UPC (Universal Product Code) is a unique identifier assigned to a product — in this case, a full album, an EP, a single, or a physical version (CD or vinyl). It allows your release to be recognized on platforms and within commercial databases.
How do I get these codes?
Some aggregator services (such as CD Baby, DistroKid, or Amplitude Distribution) can automatically provide ISRC and UPC codes when you submit your project.
However, for better control over your recordings and more comprehensive rights tracking, it is recommended — if you’re based in Canada — to register with SOPROQ. By doing so, you can request your own producer identifier, which will allow you to generate your own ISRC codes, with SOPROQ support for rights management.
Note: If you live outside Canada, you cannot obtain ISRC codes through SOPROQ. To find your country’s national agency, visit the website of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
What about the UPC code for physical releases?
The UPC code for digital releases is usually provided by your aggregator. However, if you’re planning a physical release (CD or vinyl), you’ll need to obtain a UPC code yourself from a service such as gs1ca.org in Canada.
– Files for CD Duplication
A DDPi version (for CD duplication) as well as a CD-R (for approval) are available for an additional fee of $80 (per album).
